SCAG SABRE TOOTH TIGER - PRODUCT DETAIL
- Ultra heavy-duty hydraulic drive system includes dual 21cc Hydro-Gear pumps, 22ci Ross wheel motors and auxiliary hydraulic oil coolers for smooth, reliable, zero-turn maneuverability.
- 10.5 MPH forward and 5 MPH reverse speeds keep productivity at a maximum. The Sabre Tooth is able to mow at very high ground speeds due to its powerful engine, driveshaft and hydraulic drive system.
- Driveshaft driven cutter deck eliminates belt slip and provides increased reliability and longevity. The driveshaft system also allows for a wider range of cutting heights (1" to 6").
- Choose a 61" or 72" Advantage cutter deck. Match that with a Briggs and Stratton Daihatsu 31hp, 3-cylinder liquid-cooled gasoline or turbo charged diesel engine. Click here for a complete list of engine and cutter deck combinations.
- Double tube main frame construction delivers superior strength and ensures years of trouble free service. The main frame was redesigned in 2002 for an even lower center-of-gravity, more room for the operator and increased hillside stability. Fully welded, full length main frame.
- Twin lever steering controls with shock dampeners for smooth, precise responsiveness. Steering levers are adjustable to fit a wide range of operators and are designed for operator comfort.
- Easily adjust cutting heights from the seat with the convenient, easy to lift, foot pedal. Widest range of adjustment from 1" to 6" in 1/4" increments (21 different cutting height settings).
- Spring loaded, self-adjusting belt systems effortlessly keep all belts in constant, optimum adjustment for maximum life and minimal maintenance. Idler arms feature high quality, sealed bearings for no maintenance.
- Marbain cutter blades stay sharp longer for reduced maintenance.
- Heavy-duty blade drive spindles provide reliable performance season after season. The Scag spindle is more than tough enough to handle the high horsepower and torque requirements of this mower. Three year limited warranty.
- Excellent hillside stability due to an exceptionally low center-of-gravity, center mounted fuel tank and extra wide stance.
- Extra large 24 inch drive tires and 13 x 6 - 6 caster tires ensure better traction, less turf tearing and easy curb climbing. Wide tires help distribute mower weight, reducing the pounds per square inch on the ground, in turn reducing turf damage and caster tracking.
- Operator friendly instrument panel includes a voltmeter, ignition switch, oil pressure gauge, mower engagement switch, water temperature gauge and separate choke and throttle controls. The hour meter is located near the engine compartment and runs only when the engine is running.
- Custom-Cut Baffle allows you to customize the cutter deck to your individual cutting conditions.
- Tapered roller bearings are utilized in the front caster wheels and in the caster pivots for durability and reduced maintenance.
- Fully adjustable, high back, extra cushioned seat with padded armrests and increased lower back support combined with adjustable steering levers give the ultimate in operator comfort.
- 10 gallon fuel capacity keeps you in the field cutting grass. Single fuel tank is positioned low, in the center of the machine, adding to the mower's low center-of-gravity and excellent hillside stability. Fill up in the morning and cut all day long.
- New "Split-Steel" pulley design is stronger than cast iron or stamped pulley designs. They are precision matched and lightweight for reduced inertia and decreased wear on the cutter deck drive system.
- User-friendly mower design allows quick, clean access to the engine and filters, for easy maintenance. Engine radiator and oil cooler are mounted in front of the engine, as the engine manufacturer intended. Having the radiator positioned behind the seat offers extra protection against impacts and foreign material.
- Heavy duty GT4 Ogura clutch brake features 250ft. lb. of torque capability. Adjustable airgap means a longer component service life.
- High quality electrical components such as switches, wiring and harness looms are used throughout the Scag mower line for dependable service.
- The Scag "Simply the Best" commercial warranty stands behind you and your mower for years of profitable service.
- There are many productive, time saving accessories for the Sabre Tooth Tiger like the Tiger striping kit, roll-over protection systems, suspension seats and more.

"Our Scag mowers have given us many hours
of efficient high quality cutting." - Matt Brewer, Urban
Environments, Inc., Columbus OH
"We purchased two Scag Sabre Tooth Tigers
this spring and we are very amazed by the quality of cut with the
Advantage Deck. We mow 76 acres and when pushed, we can now mow the
whole property in 2-1/2 days with just two machines, where we used to
mow with three 72" 4-wheel drive units and it would take three days,
pushing hard. This machine handles all our hills as easily as the
4-wheel drives did. Overall, I would have to say this was the best
investment we ever could have made." - Greg Blood,
Superintendent of Grounds Cedar Memorial Cemetery, Cedar Rapids IA
"Scag Power Equipment has been a key
component in the growth and success of our lawn maintenance division
for the past 10 years. Scag mowers have proven dependable, highly
productive and deliver the "great cut" we provide to our loyal
customers. We currently operate Sabre Tooth Tigers, Turf Tigers,
Cougars and SWZ's in our fleet of commercial mowers. We can tackle any
job, regardless of condition requirements with our Scag fleet of proven
performers." - Ken Dvorak, Equipment Manager for Wheeler
Landscaping Inc., Chagrin Falls OH
"To maintain our 300 acre government
campus, we replaced three multi-gang rotary mowers with four Scag Sabre
Tooth ZTR's. To our pleasant surprise, we cut our mowing time by almost
a full day, at half the equipment cost. Reliability, productivity,
service and quality of cut have been outstanding. Going with Scag was
definitely a "step up" for us." - Phil Goulding, Landscape
Service Supervisor, Oakland County Facilities, Maintenance and
Operations
"I set out to prove this mower couldn't
do any better than "the competition". I couldn't have been more wrong.
Test driving it has completely changed my opinion as to what would be
the best mower for our company." - Ken Frutiger, Plant
Manager, City of Anadarko Oklahoma
